…But We Kept The Tape!

Rab Kingsley and his Vision of Elvis swept into the Radio Saltire studios last Sunday during Davie Martin’s Sunday Session. Unfortunately some people were a little late to find out and our email server has been straining to cope with the number of requests to make the interview available to Replay!

So for all those fans, Davie’s created an edit of his show.

vision of elvisThis Sunday (21st Sept) Davie Martin will be joined by Vision of Elvis, Rob Kingsley.

Rob recently gave us some tickets to his upcoming show at the Playhouse for a raffle prize at one of our fundraisers. He’s also promised Davie an Extra Pair of Tickets to Give Away during this Sunday’s show.

A Vision of Elvis is one of the world’s most respected Elvis impersonation shows. Rob (real name Rab Ainslie) is a local lad and long term friend of Davie Martin so their chat this weekend should be a real treat to listen in to.

Rob will be in the Radio Saltire Studio this Sunday at around 10am. If you want those tickets, set your alarm!

Davie Martin will be welcoming competition winning band Fags ‘n’ Matches on the Sunday Session this week.

Fags N Matches were pronounced the Edinburgh Evening News’ “Search For A Star” winners in 1972 by Hughie Green. They haven’t played together for 35 years but they’ve been persuaded our of retirement for a charity gig this October at Finnegan’s Wake.

Although the band name lived on, the original competition line up hasn’t played together since the mid 70’s. They will be joined by other local groups to perform for charity and say they are looking forward to playing a rehearsing soon.

Davie gets Sunday Sessions going at 8am every Sunday morning. He told the web team that Fags n Matches are due into the studio around 10am.

Singer Ciara HarvieCiara Harvie is an up and coming classical singer from Longniddry in East Lothian. She’ll be making her Radio Saltire début with Davie Martin this Sunday morning.

At just 16, Ciara has already racked up performances at the Edinburgh Fringe. This led to some publicity on STV and towards the end of last year she was invited to sing at the SPIFOX Christmas Carol Concert, one of the premier charity events of the season.

The music bug really has got a hold of Ciara now and she’s seriously considering options for her career.

Tune in this Sunday morning at around 10am to hear her on Davie Martin’s Sunday Session. But if you can’t wait that long, here’s a quick peak at what to look forward to:

You can see more about Ciara on her Facebook Page.
