Lothian and Borders Police are warning members of the public to stay vigilant following the attempted theft of some copper cabling in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian.
Sometime between 11pm on Friday (June 29) and 7am on Saturday (June 30) a series of holes were dug around four lampposts directly behind Cockpen Crescent.
Although no cabling had been removed, it is likely the holes had been dug to prepare for future access.
Police are urging joggers and dog walkers to take care in the area as the holes are very large and the lampposts along the path are not working at the moment.
The cost of the damage caused is estimated to be around £1200.
