Radio Saltire started in August of 2011 when a group of enthusiasts gathered to discuss the possibility of creating an Online Radio Station to serve the people of Scotland.
We acquired and self-financed a studio and broadcasting commenced on the 10th October 2011.
Since then we have been broadcasting 24/7 and our listening audience has grown to astonishing levels. The popularity of Radio Saltire is growing throughout Scotland, the UK and overseas.
In 2013, we moved to new studios and Radio Saltire continued to rise in popularity.
The ‘Saltire’ – Scotland’s Flag, is reputed to have been created in the village of Athelstaneford in East Lothian, during a battle way back in the 9th Century. We felt that this world famous icon was an ideal name for what is fast becoming Scotland’s favourite Online Radio Station.
We are a Radio Station in the true sense and as such welcome people of all ages from all walks of life who have a genuine interest in Radio to come along and meet with us. If you’re interested, please get in touch via our Contact Page
We can offer training, support and encouragement for those interested in broadcasting as a hobby or even as a career. We also provide a free ‘what’s on service’ to help promote community and charity events throughout Scotland.
