Its a case of déjà vu this week with me having to cancel last week’s show at the last minute.
So I have carried forward by seven days most of what I planned to put out last week as it is so good I don’t want to waste it….. and you to miss it!
For the first hour then an ecliptic mix of golden oldies taken from my personal vault of music extraordinaire, which will also include the ‘Children’s Favourite‘. This week it features a guy called Mel Blanc who was famous for many years as the voice used by Walt Disney in many of his cartoons. If his name means nothing to you, the song certainly will.
Our ‘Year Under the Spotlight’ this week is 1990, the year we were introduced to Mr Bean on TV, when German supermarket giant ‘Aldi’ opened it’s first store on these shores and Nigel Mansell, Britain’s most successful racing driver to date back then finally hung up his driving gloves. Our favourite music was being performed by the likes of Sinead O’Connor, the Steve Miller Band and Beautiful South.
And last but not least, we will be revisiting our ‘Vintage Chart’ from exactly 50 years ago. It’s the UK top selling singles chart that we are following week on week now and with new entries from the Barron Knights, the Kinks, Dave Berry, the Supremes AND a new No 1 it will certainly be worth waiting for.
So if you’re at a loose end on Saturday at noon, why not join me and wallow in a bit of nostalgia for three hours or so – but if you can’t, don’t fret. We’ll post it on MixCloud for you to enjoy later.
