Police Scotland**Update – We’ve been told that Mrs Allan has been found safe and sound**

Police in East Lothian are appealing for information to help trace an elderly woman who has been reported missing by her family from the Port Seaton area.

Helen Allan (sometimes known as Aileen) who is 79 years old, was last seen near to her home at the Promenade, Port Seaton at 6am this morning and is believed to have got on a Lothian Region bus, possibly the number 26.

While Helen is mobile, she suffers from dementia and so may appear confused and disorientated.

She is described as white, 5ft 2in to 5ft 3in tall, slim build, greying short hair, gold-rimmed rectangular shaped glasses and carrying a black handbag with strap and pockets.

She is possibly wearing a two piece suit with a buttoned, collarless purple top, pleated skirt, and black shoes.

Inspector Andrew Hill said:

We are asking the public for their assistance in helping us trace Helen so we can establish that she is safe and well, and return her to the care of her family. Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.
