A man has been arrested and charged by police in Galashiels in connection with a number of local housebreakings.
The 24-year-old was detected on Wednesday night (25 Feb) when he was disturbed in a private garden at a home in Lawyers Brae.
He has also been charged with three separate reports of housebreaking in the town and will appear in court at a later date.
Police wish to thank the members of the public who assisted them with their enquiries.
Community Inspector Tony Hodges said: “The area in question has seen a number of thefts from private properties in recent weeks and thanks to the vigilance of his homeowner we have apprehended a man in connection with these incidents.
“Following his arrest we have now established evidence to report him for an addition three thefts from local properties, which occurred earlier this month.”
