Police ScotlandPolice in East Lothian are appealing for information following the break-in to a van in Tranent.

The incident happened at some time between 8pm on Wednesday night and 7.45am yesterday morning outside a property on Carlaverock Court when the van was broken into and power tools worth around £2500 to £3000 was stolen from within.

Inspector Andy Harborow said:

Anyone who remembers seeing or hearing any suspicious activity around Carlaverock Court is asked to contact us immediately.

I would advice people not to leave tools in their work vans overnight, and to ensure their property is secure. In addition, if members of the public are approached by anyone trying to sell power tools, do not accept them and get in touch with police.
