There’s a new café coming to Musselburgh – but it’s a café with a big, big difference.
Starfish Recovery is a registered charity based in Dalkeith and they have another café in Edinburgh – but this is the first café of its kind in East Lothian.
It will be run by people in recovery, carers and other volunteers and is supported by the Mid & East Lothian Drugs and Alcohol Partnership (MELDAP), NHS Lothian and the Church of Scotland.
The Starfish Recovery Café will offer a drug and alcohol free space where people can socialise and share their aspirations – but also a centre that will be open to the whole community.
The café will be based at the Hope Church in Musselburgh and will be open every Wednesday between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm from Wednesday 7th. January serving tasty snacks, home-made cooking and hot drinks to enjoy either on the premises or to take away.
Starfish Recovery is there primarily to help and support those who have drug and alcohol problems.
During Tuesday’s Brunch Show, Andy Morris will be talking to a couple of volunteers who themselves are in ‘recovery’ but have been instrumental in getting the project off the ground.
Should be an interesting listen.
Tune in at 11.00 am on Tuesday to hear the full interview.
