If your hair is greyer than it used to be,
You ache in places you cannot see,

Have wrinkles where they shouldn’t be;
Yet still love the music that used to be;
Why not travel back in time with me –
Andy Morris, this Saturday and EVERY Saturday at noon with the GREAT Golden Oldies Show?

Coming up this week:

Time to stir up the old grey matter once more and travel back in time with me for 3 hours or so on a journey into yesteryear and play some truly superb tracks – some of which you may have forgotten you once knew.

As usual, the show is divided into three with the first hour’s music plucked randomly from my own collection. It is during this bit of the show that you can have a request played, make a dedication or simply get a name check. Just let me know and I’ll do my best to oblige.

The second hour is dedicated to this week’s ‘Favourite Year’ and this week we will be travelling back to 1981.
It was by far one of the most unpleasant years in recent British history with riots throughout the country, the arrest of the Yorkshire Ripper and numerous activities involving the IRA.
If you didn’t live through it, you won’t appreciate how bad it was to be around at times.
On the brighter side, Charles and Di got engaged and later married, cancer survivor Bob Champion won the Grand National on his horse Aldaniti and the musical ‘Cats’ opened in London.
So I will endeavour to brighten things up a bit with some great music from that year too.
All that in the second hour.

And finally and in the last hour, we’ll revisit our 60’s ‘Vintage Chart’ from exactly 50 years ago. That’s 6th. December 1964 to be precise and it’s the UK singles chart that we are now following week on week.
New entries this week include tracks from Herman’s Hermits, Freddie & the Dreamers and a fabulous track from the Beatles.

As usual, you will get the opportunity to enter the ’Spot The TV Show that Grannie Used to Watch’ Competition and be in with a chance to win a rare Radio Saltire Car Sticker and I will also slot in our ‘Children’s Favourite’ and take some of you back to your youth to see if you still remember the words to a song that was always being played on the wireless back then at a time when you were somewhat younger than you are now.

So throw away those walking sticks and zimmers and let’s see you skip the light fandango…..
It all starts at noon (GMT)
I do hope you can join me.
