Pauline Bristow from East Lothian Council has informed Radio Saltire that this year’s planned ‘Saltire Spectacular’ has been cancelled. The event was due to be held at Carberry Tower on Sunday November 30’th. Due to poor ticket sales, it is with regret that organisers have decided to postponed the event for 2014. Assurances are made that all those who bought tickets will be refunded. The rest of the Saltire Festival will remain in place as scheduled.
Councillor John McMillan, Cabinet Spokesman for Economic Development and Tourism has said: “It is unfortunate that the Saltire Spectacular has had to be cancelled. Sadly, with the number of tickets sold at this stage, we had to take the tough decision to pull the event. We apologise to those people who had bought tickets and understand they will be just as disappointed as we are as the Spectacular was shaping up to be a great event. Obviously, a full refund will be issued to anyone who had bought tickets.
“The rest of the programme is unaffected and all other events will go ahead. There is still a full range of great events for residents and visitors of all ages and we hope people who have attended in past years will enjoy this year’s event just as much – and hopefully we’ll see plenty of new faces too!”
