If your hair is greyer than it used to be,
You ache in places you cannot see,

Have wrinkles where they shouldn’t be;
Yet still love the music that used to be;
Why not travel back in time with me –

Andy Morris, this Saturday and EVERY Saturday at Noon with the GREAT Golden Oldies Show?
And amazingly I’ll be joined once again by Rob Craig who can’t stay away!

So on Saturday…..

This week’s ‘Favourite Year’ has been requested by Grant who lives in Grays.
For those of you who haven’t been out lately, Grays is south of the Wall in deepest Essex.
Yes we even have listeners in England…

Anyway, 1973 was the year Grant left school and started his life sentence of employment – so he’s asked me to play a number of tracks from back then including some from the likes of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper and the Steve Miller Band.

Sorry Grant, don’t like any of ‘em so tough…!

Only joking.

Not a bad selection actually. I’m looking forward to it….honest!

We will be taking our usual peek at the ‘Vintage Chart’ by travelling back exactly 50 years to 15th. November 1964 and the week’s UK’s Top 20 selling singles.
New entries this week include tracks from the Pretty Things (who weren’t), Jim Reeves (who was) and the Shangri-Las (who may have been).

And we’ll start with an hour of mixed blessings that will include some of my favourite tracks from yesteryear – and this is the part of the show where you can have a request or dedication included. (see below)

You will also get the opportunity to enter the ’Spot The TV Show that Grannie Used to Watch’ Competition and be in with a chance to win a rare Radio Saltire Car Sticker and I will also slot in our ‘Children’s Favourite’ and take some of you back to your youth to see if you still remember the words to a song that was always being played on the wireless back then at a time when the boys wore short trousers and many of the girls had their hair in plaits.

And it all kicks off at noon.

So throw away those walking sticks and zimmers, get those hips a swingin’, those feet a dancin’, those arms a jivin’ and let’s see you skip the light fandango with Rob and me.

To remind you – If you would like a request or a dedication – or pick a ‘Favourite Year’ – a year that means something to you, no matter where you are on this ever shrinking globe of ours, just email me 24/7 at andrew@radiosaltire.org

PS – I won’t be on next Saturday – 22nd. November. I’m taking a few days off.
Be back on 29th.
