In a show packed full to the hilt with unique content, not heard anywhere else on this planet in quite the same format, I will be including at about 10.30 a look back at ‘Today in History’ to see what happened here in the UK on 3rd. September in times past – helped along as usual by Howard and his terrific website – Beautiful

This week’s ‘Classical Corner’ – the spot for classical music dummies like me takes us into the world and mind of Gabriel Faure, the 19th. century French composer and whilst his name may not readily jump to mind, the piece of music he wrote back then probably will. It’s lovely and I have been researching it and will share what I found out and playing it of course at around 11.30.

This week’s ‘Artist of the Week’ is a man who needs no introduction. I saw him live on stage at the Gaumont Theatre in Sheffield back in the 60’s on a show I will never forget. It’s Roy Orbison and I’ll be playing half a dozen or so of his tracks throughout the show.

There’s our ‘Joke of the Week’, taken from the annals of my website and then there’s our competition. ‘Spot the TV Show that Grannie used to Watch’ Competition. As usual there are three Radio Saltire Car Stickers up for grabs. All you have to do is identify the show and email or text me whilst I am on air with your answer. All correct entries will be entered into the hat and the winners drawn out and announced at around 12.45 pm. So stay tuned. You’ll have a number of chances to enter as the show progresses.

Now next week is Suicide Awareness Week, a week dedicated to raising the profile of this most disturbing of subjects, not just here in Scotland, but globally too – and for the third year running, Radio Saltire has been asked to get involved. So we will be broadcasting a series of hour long specials every day next week from noon.

Accordingly then, my guest this week is no stranger to Radio Saltire. It’s Brian Glass who is the Information Officer at the Changes Community Health Project based in Mussleburgh. Brian will be joining me during the show and we will be chatting about Suicide Awareness Week in general and the special shows we have lined up next week in particular. All that after the News Bulletin at Noon.

So put the kettle on, don some warm socks and settle down with me for this weeks ‘AM into the PM’.

From 10.00 am on Wednesday.
