This is to be the last ‘AM into the PM’ as I am soon to be taking over my old Saturday lunchtime spot with the return of – The ‘Great Golden Oldies Show‘. Back by demand I might add – and I am really looking forward to it.
The first show is scheduled for Saturday 11th. October – so more of that later. Just watch this space!
But hey, it’s not all bad news so for now, let’s concentrate on what I have lined up for you this coming Wednesday morning.
There’s the ‘Spot the TV Show That Grannie Used to Watch’ competition and our ‘Joke of the Week’, ‘The ‘Classical Corner’ for classical music dummies like me and we have a special guest too.
It’s Mr Fa’Side himself, an East Lothian Councillor for 6 years and Depute Provost of East Lothian since 2012. He is Jim Gillies.
Jim was also a member of the Ormiston Community Council, a position he fulfilled for 16 years before being elected as an East Lothian Councillor and amongst other things he gets up to in his spare(!) time, he is Chair of the Fa’Side Fireworks Committee.
I’ll be talking to Jim after the News Bulletin at noon.
At around 10.30 we will travel back in time to find out what happened here in the UK on 24th. September in years past and an hour later at 11.30 it will be time for this week’s Classical Corner, the part of the show dedicated to Classical Music Dummies like me, who love classical music but know nothing about it. This week I have chosen a lovely piece of music that I’m sure you will recognise. It’s ‘Greensleeves’ a piece of music rumoured have been written by King Henry 8th. Well perhaps its just a myth – but a nice one anyway.
Oh, and this week’s ‘Artist of the Week’ is the diva herself – Aretha Franklin.
Love her music to bits…. so I’ll be playing a few of her hits throughout the show too.
With some real ‘Golden Oldies, a few shiny newies and plenty from in between, there’s much to look forward to.
It all kicks off at 10.00 am– so I hope you can join me.
