If you’ve not tuned in before WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

As usual, I will be including a number of regular features during the show including at about 10.30 a look back at ‘Today in History’ to see what happened here in the UK on 27th. August in times past – helped along as usual by Howard and his terrific website – Beautiful Britain.co.uk.

This week’s ‘Classical Corner’ – the spot for classical music dummies like me takes us once again into world of Beethoven and his 5th. Symphony – well part of it anyway. As you know, I’m a self-confessed Classical Music Dummy so I have been researching this wonderful piece of music and I’ll be sharing what I found out and playing it of course at around 11.30.

There’s this week’s ‘Joke of the Week’ taken from the popular website Jokers Wild – On Line and our ‘Artist of the Show’ this week is the iconic little Miss Glasgow herself, Lulu. I’ll be playing half a dozen or so tracks of hers throughout the show.

Then there’s our competition. ‘Spot the TV Show that Grannie used to Watch’ Competition and once again, we have three Radio Saltire Car Stickers up for grabs. All you have to do is answer a simple question and email or text me during the show with your answer. All correct entries will be entered into the hat and the winners drawn out and announced at around 12.45 pm. So stay tuned. You’ll have a number of chances to enter as the show progresses.

My guest this week is East Lothian Councillor Shamin Akhtar.
Like me, Shamin hails from the north of England but unlike me, was born on the wrong side of the Pennines in Manchester. She was the first member of her family to go to university and studied Biotechnology at the University of Dundee where she also became involved in Student Politics. She joined the Labour Party at this time and also the Students Association and was elected as their President in 1994. She then stood for and was elected President of the National Union of Students in Scotland, a post she held for three years from 1995.

Shamin has lived for the last twenty years or so in Musselburgh, has represented the Musselburgh West Ward since 2012 and will be joing me after the News Bulletin at noon.

So please join me on Wednesday from 10.00 am and through into the afternoon.

‘AM into the PM’ with me, Andy Morris
