Eamon had a dream
He saw the success of a Trading Project elsewhere and thought he could use the model to raise money for a local cause.
The idea is simple. Start with something small and trade it for something a little bit bigger. Repeat and repeat and repeat and one day, you’ll have something really big that’s worth lot of money. Auction it off to the highest bidder and give loads of case to a good cause.
Eamon chose the East Lothian Food Bank as a very worthy cause.
To increase funds and spread the word about the project, Eamon is holding a Family Fun Day on August 17th in Ormiston. It’s already attracting a lot of attention with entertainment and stalls to delight everybody.
Lets help make Eamon’s dream come true and give him our support. This Fun Day will be FUN!!

On the show tonight I will have Solomon Daniels from Asian Concern. He’ll be chatting about his connection with Asian Concern, what they do and what their goals are. He’s also an ex Professional Hockey Player now coaching in East Lothian so we might get on to that as well, inbetween a host of good old and new tunes.
My guest this week is East Lothian Councillor Shamin Akhtar
Shamin lives in Pencaitland with her partner and their two children.
After studying biotechnology at Abertay University, Shamin was elected President of her Students’ Association and went on to serve as the President of NUS Scotland. Before being elected in May 2012, she had spent most of her career working in the voluntary sector, including more than a decade with SCVO, the national umbrella body for Scottish charities. She is also a long standing trade unionist and a member of Unite the union.
Shamin currently serves as the Council’s Cabinet Spokesperson for Education and Children’s Services and I’ll be finding out what makes her tick, what keeps her occupied when she’s not in the public eye and what kind of music she listens to.
All this after the News at noon.
Ever heard of a Mojo?
Well back in 1957, a song was written called ‘Got my Mojo Workin’’. Although it was released as a single it didn’t do anything until a year later when it was recorded and released by Muddy Waters – and it became an instant international hit. Over the years it has been recorded by many famous names and I’ll be having a bit of a look at it in detail (and revealing just what a Mojo is too) later on.
I’ve chosen some Beethoven for our Classical Corner this week. A symphony of his no less. No 6 (well part of it) to be precise. That and a bit of history surrounding it at around 11.30.
So if you are a classical music dummy like me stay tuned. You may learn something. If not, you will recognise the piece anyway and it’s lovely.
My ‘Artists of the Show’ this week are a couple of lads from Leith who have been entertaining us now since 1987 with tracks including ‘500 Miles’, ‘Letter From America’ and ‘I’m On My Way’. Yes, it’s the Proclaimers and I’ll be playing a few of their tracks throughout the show.
With some help from Howard and his team at ‘Beautiful Britain’ we’ll take a look at what has happened here in the UK on the 30th. July in years past at around 10.30.
And then there’s the ‘Spot The TV Show That Grannie Used To Watch Competition’, the Jokers Wild ‘Joke Of The Week’ plus a veritable mix of shiny newies and golden oldies, I really will be hard pushed to squeeze everything in.
Join me if you can then on Wednesday morning from 10.00 am ‘til 1.00 pm
‘AM into the PM’ with me, Andy Morris
A reminder that Bill Black’s country show is a special edition today – Bill will be taking us back to the music and legacy of Jim Reeves. As well as playing some of Reeves’ memorable recordings, there will also be discussions with some of those who worked with the artist to get an insight into the man himself.
The show starts today at 3.00pm
