This week on ‘AM into the PM’ I will feature music from the cult film ‘The Boat That Rocked’.
This film is a favourite of mine and there are some super tracks from the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Otis Reading, the Turtles, the Isley Brothers and many others.
We sent our roving reporter to the Edinburgh Playhouse last week so we will be reviewing the current production of ‘West Side Story’ that is on until next Saturday.
My studio guest this week is MSP John Lamont, who represents Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire.
John is a keep-fit fanatic and is shortly to compete in an Iron Man competition in Bolton, Lancs. So tune in after noon and find out a bit more about him, what makes him tick and some of his musical preferences.
I will also be chatting to David Marshall who is from a group calling themselves Dads Rock, which is Scotland’s only network of free playgroups for dads and kids. They currently run three playgroups and have plans to expand into East Lothian, right across Scotland and perhaps beyond! The playgroups are for babies, toddlers and kids up to the age of 5.
The show will as usual include all the regular features including a look back to see what made the headlines on the 25th. March in years past; there will be the Classical Corner for Classical Music Dummies like me and this week we will wallow in some Elgar with his Enigma Variations – Op 36 – No.9 –aka Nimrod (and chips) and yet another chance to double the value of your car with the Radio Saltire Window Sticker Competition.
Just tune in at 10.00 am (GMT) on Tuesday and I’ll do the rest.
