At the end of April Willie Nelson celebrates his 80th birthday. Rather than slowing down, he’s got lots of new ventures in the pipeline.
His new album Let’s Face the Music and Dance has just been released. It continues Willie’s free spirit approach to his music with pop and country standards, a new version of one of Willie’s own compositions and a couple of instrumentals played on his trusty guitar Trigger. It’s his 200 plus something album – even Willie’s lost count!
And A Book
His rollicking memoir Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die – Musings from the Road is currently in the New York Times best sellers list.
A seven time Grammy award winner Willie is working on new material for release in his 80th year including a possible collaboration with thrash metal band Megadeth, various re-issues and previously unreleased tracks.
Join Bill Black this Sunday at 7pm and celebrate the 80th birthday of the man and his music. Bill brings us a two hour Willie Nelson Special presented by Rodney Crowell and featuring Willie himself with members of his long time road band The Family recalling how it all came to be. Of course there’s lots of Willie’s music to enjoy as well!
