The famous Prestonpans Tapestry is to be on display in the 400 year old Pinkie House at Loretto School in Musselburgh on 22-24 April.
Pinkie House is particularly appropriate because Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed the night there on 21 September after his victory at the battle (it’s depicted in panel 92 of the tapestry). It also happens to be the buildings 400th anniversary this year.
Well worth a visit, the 104 metre long tapestry is the longest in the world. It tells the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s journey from France to the victory at the Battle of Prestonpans in 1745. All 104 panels of the locally sewn tapestry have toured the world since it was unveiled in 2010.
