L&B Police LogoLothian and Borders Police are appealing for information after three high value vehicles were stolen following housebreakings in East Lothian this week.

On Monday (September 17), a red Merecedes and a black Audi were stolen from a property in Carberry Road, Musselburgh about 2.15pm. A group of four men were seen leaving the house before driving away in the cars – the keys had been stolen from the house.

One of the men is described as being white, around 5ft 8ins tall, in his early 20s with short brown hair, wearing a dark jacket and jeans. There are no other descriptions available.

In another incident, a BMW was stolen from a house that had been broken into in Laburnum Avenue in Port Seton at about 8.10pm last night (September 19) again the car keys had been taken from the house. There is no description of any suspects available.

Officers are urging home owners to stay vigilant and ensure their properties are properly secured, and car keys are not left lying out, or in obvious easily accessible storage cupboards or drawers in particular near front or back doors.

Detective Inspector Keith McKay said;

We are appealing for anyone who may have any information about either of these incidents to contact us.

At the moment we are keeping an open mind regarding our inquiries, but it would appear these housebreakings are linked at this stage.

Furthermore, I would encourage anyone seeking home security advice to contact police directly on 0131 311 3131, or to consult the force website.
