Last week, East Lothian FM’s very own Davie Martin was approached by the producers of hit music show The X Factor. They were looking for a Pipe Band to Pipe in the judges at last Monday’s Live Auditions at the SECC, Glasgow.
Davie invited East Lothian’s Preston Lodge High School Pipe Band to do the honours and was delighted when they agreed.
At the SECC, the 25 strong band Piped In the four X-Factor judges; Tulisa, Anastacia. Louis Walsh and Gary Barlow.
Anastasia is the latest celebrity guest judge to join the fold and step in until show bosses appoint a permanent fourth judge to replace Kelly Rowland. She took the opportunity to have a shot of the pipes backstage while Gary Barlow tried the snare drum. Dermot O’Leary looked on too.
All 25 kids from the pipe band enjoyed the auditions with Davie in VIP seats right behind the judges. They thoroughly enjoyed the show but are sworn to secrecy, so couldn’t tell us anything about the artists they saw!
The X Factor will return to our screen later this year. In the meantime, tune in to Davie Martin’s show on Sunday morning to hear more about the day.
