Police are calling for householders to be vigilant after a spate of break-ins to sheds and garages in the Prestonpans area recently.

The most recent incident occurred on April 15, when a garage in South Grange Avenue was broken into and a power washer stolen.

Similar incidents have occurred over the past month in Harlawhill, Wilson Avenue, North Crescent, Inchview and Mallard Walk

Police are urging people to ensure that the security on their sheds and garages is good enough to deter thieves.

Officers from Lothian & Borders Community Safety will be at Dobbies Garden World, Melville Nursery, Lasswade this Saturday (April 28) to offer householders crime prevention advice.

Anyone wishing further information on home security should consult Lothian and Borders Police website (www.lbp.police.uk/crime_prevention/home_security.aspx).
